White Genoa is exceptionally well-adapted to coastal conditions. It is known for its tolerance to cooler, humid air, making it a reliable producer even during our milder Gqeberha summers where other varieties might struggle to ripen.
Fruit Profile:
Appearance: Features large, pear-shaped fruit with thin, yellowish-green skin and a beautiful pale-pink to amber interior.
Flavour: It has a mild, delicate sweetness with a clean, refreshing finish. It isn't as intensely "jammy" as the Black Mission, making it a favorite for those who prefer a subtler honey taste.
The "Breba" King: This variety is legendary for producing an exceptionally large 'breba' crop (early summer harvest). This means you get a heavy head-start on the fig season before the main late-summer crop arrives!
Growth & Design Habit:
Form: A moderately vigorous tree with a spreading, rounded canopy. Its large, lobed leaves provide excellent shade.
